I've just done my first commute since December 23rd. And I didn't go out at all on the bike during those three weeks...
Absolutely fantastic, I hated being in the car all last week. We have an outdoor thermometer thingy with an indoor receiver - if the outside temperature is negative when I get up, then I don't go by bike - in part because of ice-risk, in part because of in the event that the bike goes wrong in any way, even a visit from the p-fairy, I'm going to get very cold very quickly. The latter reason was invented by my husband so he doesn't have to worry about me so much; and at the time, when I get up and the temperature is negative, it feels like a good reason. And then a whole week has passed with no cycling and it doesn't feel like quite so good a reason.
But what can I say - 10 miles down for 2009, 1990 to go to reach my target
