how is little Aderayo Zakaria Odaweru to be equipped in life? What does a boy need to set him on the right path? Your suggestions please!

And here's my first thought. A Grateful Dead CD! But...........which one?

You could'nt do any better than introduce little aderayo to "wake of the flood" a cracking album and my favourite dead album. :becool:

I'd treat him to a nice new Colnago (*in your own size and choice of colour scheme) followed by a lovely meal out for you and your wife.

He'll love that.

Complete with a baby seat strapped to the back and maybe some nice matching mudguards too.

Incidentally, and OT, NT and I were playing with the nephews' Brio-a-like train track (mostly IKEA bargain packs), and I noticed that the track was all terribly plain wood (Beech, he says). I reckon there's a market for Even More Upper Middle Class Brio, with the track in various differently coloured hardwoods, and marquetry turntables....

a good th
How about the complete Europe '72 - 22 shows on 73 discs, keep him happy for a bit!

a good thought, 3BM, but surely Dick's Picks Vol. 7 would capture the very best of the (superior) '74 tour? Otherwise Sunshine Daydream might get the little feller's head in shape.

I'll never quite forgive myself for not acquainting his mother with the Dead's complete oeuvre while she was still young enough to take it in

I was bought an annual subscription to the national geographic by my grandmother when I was seven. It was renewed every year for my birthday. When she died twenty years ago my mother took over the task.

I now have a wall of national geographics with every issue since 1960. I've never grown bored of reading them

you are so right. You are so right. I asked for a Scalextric set for years and years and years and years. And my daughters finally got me one when I turned 50. There is no way that little Ade is going to endure such deprivation! Thankyou, VC!

funnily enough i got scalextric for my 40th from my son ( 4yrs nearly 5( that nearly is so important to them)). a really really good set. go for the digitalplatinum if you want to spoil yourself him. beware though, it can cost a lot lot more than cycling does .

failing that an islabike

Kruggerrands (or regional equivalent) stamped with the year of birth are a good bet as a nice little keepsake. They are also quite easy to get across borders...

Obviously you bought all the newspapers on the day that Aderayo was born...and each year maybe continue the collection.
A scrapbook of thoughts and adventures would be a good thing too. Start collecting stuff and writing about it. In 15 years time, the story of The Olympics in London, as seen with a Londoner's perspective, accompanied by all the keyrings and tat will be a treasure in the classroom. (Unless he will be home tutored of course!

have a good distillery lay down some whiskey in his name, break it out at age 18 and make sure there's plenty for things like his 21's and the birth of his first child etc.

My eldest was given Scalextrix and it's worked it's way through his two brothers as well.

What godawful stuff, boring, crappy and back in its box in short order. The only thing more boring and crappy is a model train setup. There is nothing, up to and including using their elaborate toys to execute the enthusiasts, that could possibly make this stuff interesting.
