So today I got my first ever puncture

On my commute home from work riding along not a care in the world then it happens . I feel something g at my leg I media try think it's a leaf to my surprise nope it's the air escaping quite rapidly from my back tyre due to a nasty twig out to ruin my day. So me being the prepared guy I am thinks not to worry I bought all the things I needed and have them in my bag. WRONG although I did buy these items i though unknown to me my lovely 3 year old daughter has emptied them out my bag or so I thought. Next I call the better half to find out she had removed them trying to fix my baby sons pram wheel, let's just say at this point I'm not happy to say the least as I now need to walk 3 miles home due to buses being packed feeling very awkward pushing a bike.

Lessons learned today
1)I need better tyres
2) road sides should be swept more regular so cyclists can cycle
3) the better half is banned from using any of my cycle gear
4) don't automatically blame my 3 year old when stuff goes missing
5) check my bag every morning make sure they are there.

I find blaming my kids for everything helps. Even if they haven't done it, they can't remember.

Tyre pressure is confusing now my car tyres get less bar than my bike how is this possible when bike tyres are so small and car tyres are so big. I stopped off at the garage to make sure my tyre was at the correct pressure only to find it doesn't inflate as high as 8 bar the maximum suggested I was baffled.

Because narrower tires require a higher pressure. Compare the max pressure of a road racing tire, to a mountain bike tire, to a car tire. It'll be around 120psi, for the road bike tire, 65psi for the mountain bike tire, and around 32psi depending on the tires fitted to your car! It's a volume vs pressure thing.

Also, I got a puncture in almost exactly the same way yesterday, right after reading this post. I blame you! ;)

It's because, not despite the fact that car tyres are so big and bike tyres so small.

I accept the blame haha. I have now also purchased 2 new tyres as spares which will get changed soon as the twigs and so on are starting to make little indents to my slicks. I got road tyres with a little grip on them which should be handy for the weather change.
