The Via Nirone is an entry-level bike aimed at inexperienced riders doing stuff like C2C so it's very comfortable and handles predictably. Don't worry about the drop bars, if she's like Mrs Gti she will be so blown away by the comfort and the speed that she will forget the funny bars and enjoy the riding.

My wife, kids and I used to cycle together while they were growing up. Now the kids are all grown up and flown away my wife and I were planning to go out for runs on our own. Three year ago my wife was diagnosed with cancer, had the full monty thrown at her, doing well now but has developed a fear of going on her bike. She says, you never know, I might decide to go out on it sometime, so I keep it ready to roll all the time. There would be nothing worse than her taking a notion to find a tyre flat. We live in hope.!
