Hi, I'm looking to purchase my first road bike under £400. I know pretty much nothing about bikes but I've been reading around and have found some that fit my budget but have no idea which one would be the best value for money.

Here's the ones that I have found so far:

Triban 3 £300 - http://www.decathlon.co.uk/triban-3-road-bike-white-id_8239800.html
Triban 500 SE £380 - http://www.decathlon.co.uk/triban-500-se-road-bike-black-id_8306187.html
MEKK PINEROLO AL ZR £370 - http://www.rutlandcycling.com/213222/products/mekk-pinerolo-al-zr-road-bike.aspx
VIKING SAN REMO ROAD BIKE CARBON FORK £369 - http://www.rutlandcycling.com/159213/products/viking-san-remo-road-bike-carbon-fork.aspx

Thanks for any advice!

Thanks for all the help! When you have all said go for the 500 do you mean the Triban 500 or the Triban 500 SE? It's just that the 500 is £450 compared to the 500 SE which is just £380.

Looking at the Triban 500 SE I've noticed delivery is £15 so taking the total cost to £395 whereas the Mekk Pinerolo is only £374 with delivery and that £20 is quite a lot of money to me. Is the Triban worth the extra?

Thanks.

Looks a good deal as long as the 56cm mekk is the right size for you

Can get 3% Quidco cash back with rutland too

Presumably you aren't close to a decathlon so as to negate delivery fees

Oh 3% Quidco is nice! Unfortunately there are no decathlons in Wales otherwise I'd definitely go and get one.

I'm 6 foot tall so the 56cm should be fine! Also, I'd love to get a second hand one but there's very very anywhere near where I live. I've looked on eBay, gumtree and other used bike websites.

To buy the current version of that bike new is about £1000, though it'd now have disc brakes and not those wheels and I understand was redesigned somewhat for this year.

Not sure about the sizing though. I'm picking up a Synapse today but at 6'1" I went for a 56 because the 58 felt too big.

Do you know what the model name is or where I can find some reviews on it?
