That's one up from entry level

Does it have the thumb button gear shifter/ Did you manage ok assuming you have fairly small hands

You could get a new aluminium bike with a higher group set for £700-1000

How old is it?

Yes it has the thumb button gear shifter, and I seemed to manage fine ... Was just different

It's about reach not height - the length of the top tube (crossbar), as long as you have enough standover, not such as issue with a curved crossbar...that's why you felt stretched

I have just changed from a comfort bike to a Dawes Galaxy with dropped handlebars. I have a similar problem to you and felt a bit stretched when riding on the hoods. The shop I bought it from fitted an adjustable stem to bring the bars a little closer as the Galaxy already had a fairly short stem. It is better now, but I do find the most comfortable position is just in front of the hoods. Getting used to the dropped bars took quite a while and the bike certainly felt a lot 'wobblier' than my hybrid. I really like the bike, but I am considering putting a different set of bars on (possibly butterfly bars or ergo straights with bar ends) Unfortunately, this is an expensive option as I will have to change gear shifters and brakes as well (I have my gear shifters on the ends of the drop bars)

Have you tried angling the bars towards you a smidge, may help

But it sounds like the bike may be a bit big

Given the colours and type of bike im guessing the bike is a few years old but also hasn't been abused as it still has the toe clips on and a gel seat ?
I googled yellow and black tcr when I was bored and got 2008 TCR 2 and also limited addition TCR . I got bored again and did something else . Then realised it was the middle of the day and had work to do :giggle:

My feet can touch the ground with the seat up this high, is it still too big? I actually thought it was too small ??
The TCR is designed as a race bike from my limited knowledge . The bike is set up to place you forward for speed and not a lot else . I don't think you will find it a nice bike to ride if you want to pootle along however if you want to boot it then go for it .
It sounds about the right size given your height and the saddle may need to go up . I would say small or extra small bike size but I could be wrong . I normally am

It's also about height!!

Plenty of riders set things so their feet barely/don't touch the ground, and equally some like it closer to the ground. Whatever you;re comfy with, but the big BUT is, the distance from saddle to pedal should be roughly such that when one of the pedals is at the lowest point, and you're on the bike, your corresponding leg should be nearly stretched out, as if you were lounging on a roomy sofa, but vertically and applying pressure to a pedal!

How much are you thinking of paying for this bike?

Yes but the height is adjustable more than the reach, you can only compensate so much with a shirt stem.better to buy a bike that has the correct top tube length

Id go for the road bike personally. Its the best move ive ever made, you go so much faster and so easy to handle. Pete made minor adjustments to mine so as my arms weren't outstretched all the time and that's me that was always scared of getting a road bike.
