Just been out for first real run on my fixie. It's an old Holdsworth Mistral with home built wheels (Campag 32 Record at front and Maillard flip flop at rear) and previously I've ridden it with the freewheel side.

I'm running 40/16 but since I've not been on the bike much since an accident 6 weeks ago (hit and run - broken ribs, cheek and sprained wrist) found it fine on flat but a bit of an effort on climbs.

But bike was spot on, chain run perfect, needed to use brakes to slow on hills as legs getting pounded. That will get better as I get my fitness back.

Oh, and I need a Brooks on this one too!

What a rush though!

Nice. Im missing my fixed at the moment, its in bits(very clean ones) waiting for the new frame and stuff.
I run about a 68" gear(abit bigger then yours) and i find i can keep up with people on geared bikes fine. Some hills that are long and steep can really be a struggle though.
Have fun on it, i love riding fixed:becool:
