First Signs of Spring

I cycled a couple of miles out to this spot where there are always early daffs.

The hazel bushes in my hedge are flowering - that's well early, probably by about a month or so. But you can't miss the 2-inch-long bright yellow male catkins. The little red female flowers are *much* harder to spot.

Has your kitchen got one of those servant boards,family pulled or pressed a button and an alarm or disc showed which room needed attention,i saw loads in the late 60's when i was decorating for my dad.

Err, no. Nothing quite that fancy in what is a former railwayman's cottage. A good old yell suffices!

This afternoon I noticed that I have two very frozen-looking winter aconites flowering under one of my mulberry trees.

I think those aconites are now regretting having flowered. It snowed here overnight. Whoops!

Seeing lots of cherry blossom in the last couple of weeks, I’m sure its not usually this early in these parts.

Usually its winter flowering Prunus so its normal.

Snowdrops in full bloom in the Foxhall area just outside Ipswich today

My snowdrops are coming up left, right and centre. Need to watch where I step! Also winter aconites in full bloom now, and my forsythia is putting out a few tentative flowers.
