Yep, spring just around the corner here: only -4, only slighty grey and overcast, only three more months before I can ride to work without looking as though I'm on an expedition to the North Pole.

Nice one, Reiver. There was a Skylark singing during my ride last Thursday too. Right now, a pair of Long-tailed Tits are taking beakfuls of moss into a dense conifer (a "dwarf" Boulevard which is now about 14' high and 10' wide), just 18' from my dining room window. When I was in the garden yesterday I could hear them quietly chuntering to each other as they went about their nest building task; quite musical, and utterly charming.

Pewitt/lapwing - we heard them calling from a farmers field on Sunday and again today whilst taking the dog out for a walk.

It was surprisingly early, I know. I had my doubts about it until my wife asked if I'd heard the cuckoo that morning.
