I have just bought my first tripod following on from my first SLR camera purchase a couple of months ago. I am so excited ..........thought I would share!
And I plucked up the courage to take myself along last night to a meeting of one of the local-ish camera clubs - despite not knowing anyone there! And enjoyed it.

I loved it when I had photography as a hobby.

Unfortunately I was crap at it.

What tripod did you get?

I wanted to take a photo of myself the other day, and I worked out how to use the timer!
Didn't quite work out though..

One of my favourite "got it right" pics is a night-time traffic long exposure over the A63.

There's a footbridge about 12 miles out of Hull - just before it becomes the M62 - where you get a mile-long straight. I drove out there five times and each time I got there and got set up it started to rain. I got it on the sixth attempt and it's one of the very few "keepers" from my photography days. (Still sitting in my portfolio pack in the back of my wardrobe - got it blown up and everything ... lol).

Can you scan it and post it Shaun?

I got a Manfrotto 190CX3PRO - a carbon fibre job cause I am a girl and I don't want to carry too much! With a 496RC2 head. That's my birthday and Christmas sorted this year!

That photo still works though, as it sums up what you were doing in what appears to be a pretty idyllic location. In an evocative sense I love it.
