...from the puncture fairy. xx(

Wow she picks her moments. Was on my way to a BMF class and realised bike wasn't cornering well. Pulled over and there is a whopping big staple sticking out of my front tyre. Made the mistake of pulling it out, pancake flat tyre 2 seconds later!
On a normal day I'd have fixed it there and then, but will never make my class if I do this so figure I'm not that far away so will push it the rest of the way and fix it after the class. Now that is knackering, half run, half walking a mile or two a carrera subway with a flat tyre and fully loaded panniers! Just make it in time to my class.
During said class a huge squall comes through including hailstones, lots of! Doing sit ups in hailstones is fun! What this does mean is by the end of the class my fingers are numb and in no state whatsoever for changing a tube/fixing puncture.
So I gave up and got my husband to come and collect me.

Shouldn't complain too much really as I have been commuting for a year now and that was my first puncture, hopefully won't have another one for a while now.

Not that hardcore yet, still in the novices group (only been going 2 months). Working hard to get up a level. A month ago I couldn't do press ups, Tuesday night I managed 7 at the fitness test! Getting there...

I was about to reply to BM that I dont "think" all BMF classes are that hardcore, they are ,after all aimed at getting people into fitness, not the Army.

Mrs Jeez does 5 classes a week (honestly) with four sessions run back to back (two hours) twice a week and a fifth on a Saturday Morning, come rain or shine.

Sorry, Blowing my own vicarious trumpet there.

Sailorchick, fixing tyres with icy numb fingers is no fun , I would have done exactly the same thing...besides you cant be accused of being lazy after doing sit up in the hail for an hour!! good luck with those classes, keep it up

PS, loved the way you described the rain as a Squall...proper sailor chick you are

All depends what level you are as to how 'hardcore' the class is. The advanced group work rate is amazing. The instructors are really good at pushing everyone to work hard, but at their level.

Loved the class where the greens (advanced) had to push the instructors van all around the common whilst keeping up with those of us running ahead! One day I'll be that fit!

I think even the wobbly slow group at BMF are hardcore, they impress me. Of course there are the super tough groups too, some are mental with their speed and fitness. Since I work in the parks I get to see a lot of BMF training.

And there's no doubt that running to class in the rain to get there on time is the mark of a tough cookie.

I recently saw a class of karate students training in the rough surf, waist deep, on a cold wet day in Melbourne.

I have a good friend in Melbourne. He's complaining that winter has started. It's 19 degrees there.

I'll swap their idea of cold and wet for ours.
