Perhaps the OP is now on the run, running scared as he hasn't been back.

soooooo I tried to pay it but the offense code is wrong, then after calling up on the automated number its more than was originally on the FPN...more time wasted. Great news.

I really should have just ignored the guy and carried on...this would be my only advice when the police try and make money out you too. (can't wait to see what kind of boring chat that will bring about the need for FNP...snore! )

Questions to the coppers on here ... we all know that a crime has been committed. Are you, as bobbies, and us (The General Public) legally obliged to report it? If you/we don't, are we guilty of aiding and abetting?

The police will waste time checking the false address you gave. Those same police you are dicking about with could be out catching child sex offenders.

If they do come to your door simply wear a disguise and affect a foreign accent and say you know nothing about it. Failing that perhaps create a new identity for yourself with the birth certificate of some long dead person like William Shakespear or Mother Theresa.
You might also consider some plastic surgery to put them off the scent, or if you can a complete sex change.

A new member admits to running a red then even worse admits to trying to pervert the course of justice!!!

Only one word to describe this but filters won't allow it to be shown

I don't really care what the OP gets up to with the police. I think it stupid to risk so much for such a petty little brush with the law but that's his choice. Perverting the course of justice is not taken lightly by the courts and I do know the effect a criminal record can have on you though, sometimes for the rest of your life regardless of if the offence is spent or not. I also know that if I was to do something illegal I wouldn't come boasting on a public forum, I'd keep it quiet and just hope I get away with it. Also, and importantly, if you do get caught don't moan about it. if you can't do the time don't do the crime.

Something doesn't add up.
The PCSO will have asked for ID, if you didn't have or show any then they would have radioed and ID. Correct me if I am wrong @CopperCyclist

We should do our best to confirm the ID, be that through produced ID or checks on the cross systems available to us, and we even have a power of arrest of we can say we have an offence and cannot confirm the offenders ID...

... however, in reality for a low level offence like this, whilst they should have at least done some checks over the radio, the officer would probably believe you instead of arresting unless you gave them strong reasons to suspect they needed to do otherwise.

In short, I wouldn't be surprised that someone could give false details for a low level offence like this and (initially) get away with it.
