I don't think that is the child lock, it looks more like the door catch.
You will need to reset it so that when you shut the door the door catch will lock.

Okay. It finished the cycle but the catch stayed down. Loaded it up for a 3hr cycle which went well, but again the catch stayed down at the end.

Any idea what those things around the catch are in pic 2?

The plastic parts should be to let the machine "know" the door is closed. There'll be matching parts on the door.

So it worked for a bit then bust again.

Just replaced the lock - a lot easier than I had thought. Although the lock is part of the integrated dishwasher body, all I had to do was loosen some screws to shuffle it out - the lock itself is exposed, and only clipped in.

There a few things wrong with the old part..!

The latch, front dark grey, has snapped, the spring on the trigger, right of the latch, has snapped, and the spring at the back should not be showing, it is because...another plastic bit has snapped! :laugh:
