I drove down to Lincloln last night to see Florence and the Machine play in the engine shed. What a stunning performance! Until the live performance I found it difficult to identify the 'hooks' that made her music appealing. I now think it's because her style embraces several time zones and styles..
There were elements of Grace Slick, Christine McVie, Helen Shapiro and Clare Torry amongst others in her performance.
The night was capped with a visit to Tesco to do the weekly shop on the way home. The irritable antics of the shoppers at the solitary till in operation at 01:00 was very entertaining.
Now girding my loins for an afternoon and evening of chaos with colleagues in Leeds at the German market, several hostelries and a food emporium or two.
Roll on Sunday for a spell of R&R.
