Hand cooked means it was not part of some gigantic automated process.
Hand rolled means it was, er, rolled by hand.
Hand bollocks means if you do it in public that you'll probably get a visit from the local constabulary.

Pan fried! As opposed to what - paving slab fried, turtle shell fried, carpet fried?

I was going to mention that one too! It makes me smile every time I read it on a menu.

However, I am informed that it is in fact as opposed to deep fried (as in Mars bar) or shallow fried. It supposedly signifies that not a lot of oil/butter has been used to fry something.

Hmm - then they should say shallow fried. A chip pan is (clearly) a pan but is used for deep frying!

and what about griddle frying?

but, yes, I too associate frying with a fry pan so 'pan fried' sounds duplication to me. Pot boiled potatoes anyone?

Hand grilled, locally sourced toast, hand-spread with finest butters from the EU mountain, and hand-smothered with fruit-made jams sourced from the feckin' cupboard.

Sea Bass. It used to be plain bass when I went sea fishing then West End chefs found that the foodies would pay more for it if they called it Sea Bass to make it sound a bit more exotic.
