If you've got proper 'flu, you won't be able to ride a bike. Nor should you be going into work. Real influenza is not to be trifled with. Real 'flu will have you weak for a good month.

What waffly sez!

Wouldn't like to comment what's the flu or not, but that plain old cold going around is the worst in years. Was bed ridden for a couple of days. Normally at least can mess about on the computer, watch rubbish on TV but was pretty much nodding off in bed 24/7. Cold sweats so bad had to keep flippng the duvet over it got soaking wet.

At Basingstoke now on the last push.Dont feel too great tired and everything including cough.Bought a pollution mask to prevent the cold air getting down my throat.it worked with the bandana across my mouth this morning. Also my route back will avoid Tower Gateway and Southwark Bridge as i need a gentler ride back.May stop off in PC world Mile End or Maplins Stratford for shopping and filter change.

As a definition as to what 'real flu' is, I follow the guide of a conversation I once had with a doctor. I felt REALLY bad. I'd spent the night hallucinating, being too hot then being too cold, calling out in agony. In the morning my flat mate arranged for the doctor to make a house call. He looked at me, took my temperature (close to 40 if I remember) and said 'Do you feel like you're dying?' My honest answer was 'Yes' he said, 'THen you've got the 'flu.'

If you have had anything even approaching the 'flu I'd have a week off work followed by a week off the bike while you recover to full strength.

Hacky - I really wouldn't over do it. If you aren't 'feeling too great' there's a reason for it. You need to put your feet up and just relax. I'm going back to communting Monday, there was no way I could have done it this week.

Monnet - yep, had the type of hallucinitations when ALL I could think of was Popular Sausage seasoning and if the ingredient dec on the label was correct (don't ask lol). That is all I could think about whenever I tried to close my eyes. Even had pictures of sausage in my mind. Creepy. Temp was 38.5 (nursey OH took it).

Not a bad ride, the mask worked as it suppressed my coughing.got overtaken by a woman pob wearing what seemed like a white eiderdown with no lights.then i caught her up as i was having none of it.she then proceeded to try and get me killed by stopping at green ped lights at Bow making me brake and the coach behind me braking as well.at least she apologised.felt worse at work the bike seems to liven this tub of lard up.

I got over the flu couple of days before Xmas Eve and I now have a f*cking stomach virus. Feel lousy but have dragged myself into work cos of all the time I lost with the flu. No commuting for me for a while, glad I can keep motivated on here though.

Get well soon Domestique.

Happy New Year btw ;)

I've been on ginger biscuits and boiled water for 48 hours. I did manage to eat half a jacket spud and keep it down at lunch today.

Happy New Year to you - hope you manage to have some sort of celebration
