Was a kid at junior school when all this was happening.
We were glued to a little black & white TV brought into the classroom specially for the amazing space-race stuff.
Around that same time Concord and Jumbo jet were being tested out, technology seemed to know no bounds.
A field trip to Heathrow another great event for us - first to spot a Jumbo was the big prize.
Happy memories, and sad that another hero has departed.

His book, "Lost Moon" is well worth a read. As is Gene Krantz's "Failure is not an Option".

Have read Krantz' book and it is indeed excellent as is flight director Chris Kraft's
