Fly12 and other cameras

I am on the verge of returning my fly12 for a refund. It just seems to behave so erratically its a shame because nothing comes close in terms of battery life - but at almost £200 I can't afford to have something unreliable. In my opinion the camera is ok - its the interaction with the app which is shite !

Does anyone have good experience with the fly12 - or any other camera with a decent battery life ?

I can't be the only person who rides for 3-4 hours and needs it all recorded as you never know when some numpty will hit you ?

I've just bought one but haven't been out to try it yet, I plugged my old one into to PC to view rides if needed.
What's the problem with the app then?

Basically you configure everything via the app. But the changes u make dont always get implemented on the light.

50% of the time the app wont connect at all.

Then the whole thing stopped recording. Even though the green light indicates it is recording.

Oh right! That don't sound good. Only tried a quick recording at home, it did view on the phone and the laptop with no problems though.
Can't get out at the mo to test as the wife's not long out of hospital, I'll try for later in the week (weather permitting)

What phone do you have ? I have a galaxy s6.
Just try using a few of the features. Limit the amount of modes for the light. You will get an idea of what i mean.

Will do, iphone 7 plus. I also want to do the link to Strava for the speed indicator etc. I didn't know you can change the light settings as the instructions are pretty sparse. I'll have another play with later.

I hate my Fly12, basically it works as long as you never need to push any button on it aside from the one needed to switch it on, configure it to not use the light, you just want it to record and hope that it doesn't encounter anything that it interprets as a reason to stop recording.

I think there's a new Fly 12 out today with a far better battery life.

No actually the new fly 12 has slightly less battery life. (8 hours).
Its still the same app though. - which seems to be the root of its problems.

Aside from a lockup due to a corrupted SD card, I've had no problems with my Fly12 or the app. I access the app via an iPod and a Google Nexus. So far I've been very pleased with it.

Interesting....do you use many of the features ? ....do changes you make on the app go through to the hardware ?

I have the offer of a replacement or refund. If there was a comparable product i would jump at the refund....

What else is out there with anything close to the battery life ?
Several cameras will record for as long as you can keep giving them USB power from a battery pack. Even several recent variants of the cheap MD80 will, although it's harder to use with two buttons and flashing lights to interpret, rather than an app.
