Under the headline "Rule Britannia!" the new superliner flagship for P & O arrives in its home port of Southampton.

Much flagwaving at the BBC and Daily Mail.

Both reports go into great detail with lots of facts about the ship, it has the biggest Union Jack on it and is proudly carrying on the name Britannia.

Anyone else a little sad that it was built in Italy with the £473 million going into their economy? It is only coming to the UK to be "named".
Is it a little odd that neither report mentions where it was built?

Many of the current superliners park up (or whatever ships do) across from West Quay Rd in Southampton. Most of them are bigger than the IKEA opposite. Not my cup of beverage for a holiday, but they're quite an impressive sight and a welcome distraction from the soul-destroying tedium of a day's shopping at West Quay.

MY GOD!! Is it just me who sees the Union Flag as an UTTER Mess??

I live in Dumbarton, the town that made the Cutty Sark (yes, the ship you London types think is yours), and just down the road in Clydebank, the two Queens in the '30s AND the QE 2 in 1967!!
