I'm petite, and the Brompton, while heavy, isn't unmanageable. You carry it by the frame and rest it against your leg. If you buy one with a rack, you can roll it too (much easier than carrying). Ours have been on busses. We have once been refused as we didn't have a bag. I'm going to have to bus today due to a mechanical...

If she's going into town to shop or whatever, worth taking into account what she'll do with the bike once there and how she'll get her shopping home though.
