Dogtrousers

Lefty tighty. Get it righty.
Own-grown and freshly harvested toms, beetroot, cuc and asparagus are infinitely better than anything from a shop.

In principle but not always in practice. Asparagus takes up too much space and from what I've read is hard to grow. I've never tried it. Beetroot I tried once and they weren't a roaring success. Tomatoes yes. And home grown peas and salad double yes. Baby courgettes too.

Not difficult to grow but takes 2-3 years for the crowns to mature and start cropping heavily. Used to grow it in my garden 20 years ago, but eventually scaled up at the allotment. You're right about space, plus it's a short season... But ground to plate in minutes means the best flavour is preserved. You never get the same experience from a shop. Nom!

Think i previously posted a pic of one of our Chioggia beetroot... How can you not love this?
