Food safe sleeper beds

I should say, the flower beds won't be as thoroughly dug out. I'll just take the turf away and then add top soil.

I have then put wire mesh underneath as there are rats roaming the streets

I don't know if rats do this, but field mice (and other wildlife) will eat your veggy seedlings, especially young peas.
Cover with fine mesh or grow wee seedlings up in the air: google growing peas in gutters - not while the gutters are attached to a roof though
