Brilliant prsentation; I wish I'd been there too. Such an enthusiast.

You should keep an eye out for him. He does stuff all over the place. there are a few other clips of him on youtube if you just type in his name.

His father and grandfather were all master blenders so there's not much he doesn't know about whisky. His 3 hour thing is totally absorbing. Even folk who don't like whisky enjoy it.

He's what you would call "a character"

Went to a whisky tasting session in Oban and one in Dublin. I'd recomend it to anyone who likes a snifter!

Absolutly true what a waste, mind you adding water is a sin as well IMHO. Nothing should come between whisky and tastebuds.

He obviously knows his stuff though HG and he recommends a tiny amount of water which I have been told before. Mind you if he's right in saying that 35% is the ideal strength for taste the buds, it begs the question as to why they don't make it at that strength.
I have a 50% one my son bought me which is too strong IMO. It makes you wince.

I could listen to him for three hours no problem. Might get a bit thirsty though.

I went to the distillery in Bowmore (Islay) for the tour. We arrived too late so were shown to the bar. 11am in the morning and our barman had clearly been testing the produce for sometime. The helpings he poured were very generous too. Never did see the Stills:sad: ;)

There's nothing like disagreeing with a man who's been doing a job all his life and a worldwide expert in his field eh

The 37.5% is a customs and excise thing I seem to remember. All spirits need to have and ABV of this

At the thing I was at he had the same bottle and asked for a volunteer to come up and do something. No one knew what though or i think every person in the room would have rushed up. I missed out as he had me doing something earlier. Know the guy who was lucky enough to try it and he said it was amazing and he could still taste it the next day

Absolutely brilliant speaker. Now off to but some colombain coffee and bitter chocolate:smile:

You're in for a treat if you do as it is a great combination. Maybe not heightened as he suggests  but great all the same.
