I possibly will have to move to London for 6 months for a business related issue.

I therefore need to rent a flat and will be working in the Covent Garden area. I was thinking of renting a flat from someone I know in the Tower Bridge area. Butlers Wharf to be exact which is next to the design museum.

Question is. Is this a decent area to live and how long would my commute to Covent Garden by bike be?

I wish I could afford to live there but there aren't many house that would fit my family that I could afford!

Its great aorund there but it is pertty much central and has a very busy feel to it, also lots of tourists as you're in the shadows (probably literally) of Tower Bridge.

Covent Garden is not far, not my route but can't see it taking more than 10-15 minutes.

Cheers for that. Yeah it looks a pricey area but have a friend doing a favour so financially it won't be too painful on the bank balance!

Well, its a nice walk to the SouthBank and St Katherines dock opposite the rive and not far to the city, great location, just may not be a very 'relaxing' place as most flats are above restaurants/bars etc there.

Butlers Wharf would be a great place to live. Your commute would be twenty minutes at most, and you could pick any one of six river crossing routes, all of them entertaining. And (lowers voice) between the two of us, it's a better walk than it is a bike ride. In fact I don't know a better walk.

Yeah wandered about that part of London a few times and always enjoy it.

We stayed across the river in the hotel facing Butlers Wharf when in town to watch a gig. The highlight of the weekend was walking across Tower bridge, along the south bank, back across and eventually onto Leicester Square (yes it was more enjoyable than Peter Kay at the O2).

You can buy your grub at Borough market. Lovely.

I work at Butlers Wharf and have done covent garden in about 15 minutes, the area itself is great, plenty going on and you can't beat going over the bridge. @ianrauk I probably know the owner of that penthouse you mention!
