I'm currently trying to waste time in preference to doing some proper work and I stumbled upon this. Now, I personally love Top Gear, and think Clarkson is great, but I think there are a few people on this forum who don't like him and seem to associate some people's attitudes on the roads to some sort of 'Clarksonism'.

Skip through to 5min 20sec and you'll hear his pretty fair and pleasant opinion of cyclists.

Summary: He doesn't hate cyclists, he doesn't mind that we don't pay "road tax" and doesn't agree with idiots road users honking and things like that.

Hah.. Good thing I've got a wobberly butt in lycra ...I think it was wearing lycra and foaming at the mouth in rage...so maybe I can become a nazi cyclist at times, but I generally go out with a smile  and have no problem sharing the road so I don't think I'm on his hated list .

I think Clarkson knows how to play the game with the 'media', and enjoys the publicity.....

As an HGV driver, and cyclist, I could have been offended many times over the recent years, but Top Gear of the Goffey/Woolard era, whilst entertaining, was somehow not as 'watchable' as I find it now.

Thats not just because of Clarkson, but also Hammond, and the extremely entertaining Captain Slow - who's 'cock' seems to be, occasionally, inserted beautifully....

Im not into cars so im not interested in petrolheads and their penis extensions.

Disclaimer:- Im sure most motons are ok. ;-)

I remember watching question time when the London Congestion Charge was being debated and he was a guest. I was expecting a rant against it.... but he managed surprise me by arguing for it because it would leave the roads clearer for him.

I think he just knows how to play an audience. I bet if you stuck him in a room of cyclists as an after dinner speech he would still be able to entertain us.

He won an award for presenting at the television awards and I think it really is something he has a passion for. His old Motor world series and great inventions were both very well presented too.

You can't power slide a bike...I'm sure he'd appreciate the craft and engineering involved in a lot of high end bikes though.

This lad is on the right track though:

Both May and Hammond have cycles. I reckon Clarkson has probably one atleast. He has a massive home with lots of land so I reckon he could ride about it without any of us knowing.

Probably. Anyone see the Vietnam episode where "he'd never ridden a mo-ped before?". Well, a member of this forum found an article that he'd been practicing around his town before the show. What this journalist didn't realise was that on his Vietnam leg of Motor World (about 10-20 years ago) he rode a mo-ped for the "first every time", in vietnam .
