I had a Puch like that and on my first day at work I rounded a tight corner over a railway bridge and whacked the pedal off.
Worse still on the way home I knocked the one off the other side. Same corner. Slow learner or what.

I only had my Mobylette on the road for a few weeks.....went over the bars down a hill.....driver behind sped off, one behind him stopped to check I was okay and ask if I wanted him to chase the car - he was convinced he knocked me off: I think I was just going too fast for my skills.

Anyway....the thing failed it's MOT too badly to bother fixing....if only I had known @Dirk back then

@Dirk so do you fully overhaul IE re paint and a mechanical overhaul or just re commissioning as needed?

Really intrigued as this is something I thinking about buying an early 70's 50cc moped and just having the occasional pootle about on .

There's so many variations of the theme .

My mum used to have a Puch maxi back in the day, complete with front fairing & screen for the poor weather!


She upgraded at some point to a Honda CB125, as she said it lacked a bit of punch.

A small Garelli meet by Ventnor beach last weekend - the styling reminded me very much of my old MZ50, back in the day.

Plus a rogue blue Suzi GP100….I had a blue GP125 for a while - easiest bike I had to pull wheelies (accidental or otherwise 🫣) in the first three gears, way too much power to weight ratio 🤣
Nice to see them out.
Fun watching them tackle the 1 in 3 hill back up into town….even if tail-end Charlie was smoking rather more than the rest as he buzzed up the hill to the first hairpin 🤣

My 1958 Bianchi Aquilotto (translates as Eaglet) is UK registered and almost ready to hit the road, the bicycle part is sorted, put two new tyres of the correct size and type (made in batches for VeloSolex) hub brakes cleaned, BB adjusted, the engine turns over with compression but hasn't run for 10 years so I will just pop the head and barrel off to lubricate it as I expect it's very dry internally. Drive is a roller to the rear wheel engaged by the lever on the left side of the frame.

I also have an early VeloSolex (80th anniversary of the first one this year and the second most successful in terms of global sales behind the Honda Cub) which is front wheel drive - so I am good for all weathers with a choice of front or rear wheel drive - going nowhere fast but somewhere slow !

I used to work with a bobby who was a Velosolex nutter. He had a few, would take them to France in a van to ride arohnd very slowly over there.

If you want to gamble £3.50 on a draw for a rather nice Puch Maxi, you can get her another one but with more punch. This one's been bored out to 70cc...
