According to Forbes, Taylor Swift has earned $170 million this year.

Isn't that becuase she writes songs, lyrics and is a gost writer. If you produce your own material you get paid a lot more. Look at Calvin Harris who took home €66 million for being a DJ/producer.

I have it now. Didn't he beat Steve Davis to the world snooker title in 1985?

I am not getting the equivalence between one person earning a lot of money and another set of people earning a lot of money.
The one earning lots of money will normally pay more tax than the lots who earn less combined as they will have combined tax/free allowances.

Taylor Swift does her job. I do my job. Some footballers don't do their jobs. Look at the England team, have they done their job as well as Taylor Swift and I? No, they haven't, and that's why people moan about their wages.

Why do we always find good excuses for people earning lots of money? There is one consolation though, they will die one day, same as any of us.

So if Taylor Swift has trousered $170m how much has she earned for those around her?
Manager, publicist, sytylist, make up, musicians, venue hire, security, Program printers, hot dog sellers and the rest?

You could protest about the obscene amount people like her get, but for every TS there is a huge number of people living their lives from it too.

But the lots earning less will put more into the local economy in terms of purchasing products and services.

There's only so much an individual can consume.
Possibly, possibly not. Rich will have a much larger disposable income. Lower earners will pay in total massively more for main spend of rent/mortgage and food. Majority of which will end up in much richer companies. Lifestyle spending would possibly be as much or greater with the seriously wealthy on cars/holidays/jellery/dining/construction etc.

It's a bit more complicated than that...

The evidence says that @PhilDawson8270 is absolutely right. The rich tend to save, the poor to spend. If you give £1m to a millionnaire he [sic] will put it aside. If you split that same £1m between 100 people who usually scrape their way through the month until payday, every penny of the £1m will be spent.

[Just a hint - this is a subject which isn't exactly unknown in SC&P. The arguments have been rehearsed quite a lot.]

Footballers earn massive amounts for their clubs in TV fees and merchandising alone.

As for the England players, they are paid by the clubs they play for, not the FA. In fact the appearance money they receive is pooled and donated to charity.
