chardonnay? Noodley of all the tipples you could have gone for?!!

Give it to someone

Agreed

The honesty is admired here Noodley (glad you're human ;)). I've had a drink this weekend because me and Mrs FF have had our Birthday celebrations with the rest of the family this weekend. Mrs FF's still abstaining though, whe'll make the 3 months.
The problem is, particularly in my case, having failed once it's easier to fail again. It's a bit like quitting fags.
Having said that, this was primarily about re-addressing our relationship with the bottle. I've learned a lot so far; It was a serious habit, it made me moody and bad tempered, it made me sleep badly, it made me feel less capable during the day.
The couple of times that I have drunk alcohol over the last 4 weeks I felt OK for a while but then found I didn't enjoy feeling drunk in the same way used too, and the after-effects were far worst than I remember before.
So, thus far the experiment is working; I can go without drinking, particularly at home where I did most of it, however, being out and socialising, at a party or with a special meal a drink is nice... but just one or two only.
Anyway, back to the wagon...

understood! I'm going to stick with this crazy abstention gig for a while yet - one thing I've noticed after these few week is the glass recycling box is curiously empty ('cept for a few jars).

My missus said exactly the same thing - just an empty mayo jar and an old bottle of beer which I poured away at the bottom of our glass recycling bin!

I joined in this abstinence on Monday 4 January and am getting through my 3 months pretty well. Since I started late, I promised myself that I wouldn't drink again until Easter Monday. Weight is coming down slowly, but steadily.

So far, no real problems - although when it looked like Ulster might qualify for the knockout stages of the Heineken Cup, I nearly wobbled! Massive temptation at home with a fridge heaving with beer and a full wine-rack!

I definitely feel better on Saturday, Sunday and especially Monday mornings and I have been having the most vivid dreams since I stopped drinking.
