Sad news. It was a hideous crash

Nasty accident.

According to his father he (Jules) would've wanted to die if the alternative was a life in a hospital bed.

It is sad indeed.

We can only be thankful that is such a fast and dangerous sport, the protection of the drivers have made it an uncommon occurrence.

It's amazing how few drivers die in F1 in the modern age, a tribute to the design of the cars and the medical facilities now available at circuits.

However, deaths are inevitable when cars are moving at over 200mph and it is a statistical certainty that drivers will from time to time be killed. Bianchi was just unfortunate that his was the number that came up.
