I was at College attending a Course on Information Technology. One morning about seven months into the course (three days a week) apparently the printer in the class room would not work. After about an hour, when I needed to print something, I decided to see if I could see what the matter was. Bear in mind that up to ten mature students had already tried during that hour, to make it work.

Simples, really. Switch it on at the socket.

Here's a reply for you then.

And nice avatar by the way, where's it from?
Thanks, can confirm is more than 15. [After this is confirmed to be more than 16]

As for the icon I'm not saying what it is, though considered by some to be a work of art. Considered by many to worthy of imprisonment. There's a teaser for you

AAAhhhhhhh ... now I get it.

Yes, I suppose you could mistake them for shaking bells. Never really thought about it like that.

Mystery solved.

Anyway, just for your information; a thread is marked as Hot when it has either 200 views, or 30 posts.

That's why some threads are hot with only a few posts.

Cheers,
Shaun

I must say I'm quite content with the thread icons here. Non-fussy, clear and readily identifiable.

On another forum I'm on (but don't post much!) the icons for 'thread with no new posts' and 'thread with new posts' are identical in all respects, except that the 'new posts' one is animated. But the animation is such that you have to squint at it for quite a while to ascertain that it is animated. Boy is it a pain in the a***! But will the Admins listen?!

That's this forum?!?!

When I'm at home and I look in Firefox I see two different sized icons. I have image animation turned off so I don't see them moving, but the scheme seems to be big icons for normal thread, little icons for hot threads, white for no new posts, brown for new posts.

But I just looked while at work in Internet Explorer and it's as you described. The icons are the same size but they animate to show new threads, and the different colours are to distinguish between hot and normal threads.

My head hurts.
