Found a bike in a play area

I’ve found a trek racing bike and have contacted dealers locally and checked the bike registry etc but it doesn’t seem to be reported as stolen! Any advice guys ?

I'd put it up on local social media groups, noting any very specific details. The owner may come forward.

Legally if you're in the UK you should take it to a police station. If unclaimed after several weeks it's yours.

In the past I've done as @DCLane suggests as well as checking the serial against the bike register site. Of the three or four I've found, I've never had a bite from the potential previous owner.

Polis generally don't want to know..

If you don't want/are able to take it to the police station, at the least inform them of your find. Giving the details they ask for.
Some won't even ask for the frame number. If not asked for it, don't give it. Leave that to the owner should they get in touch.

It can stop you being accused of the theft.
