Found the puncture protection limit of Schwalbe Marathons!!

I had a thorn of all things deflate my M+ tour tyres this week. Took forever to remove as it kept crumbling as I tried to remove it. I now carry a tweezers in my saddlebag. Went straight through the dead centre of the tyre too. Unbelievable at the time but have read of such things here. Decided to repair the tube and will attempt to pump it up later. Not repaired a tube in years so not too hopeful. Tyre recovered well after my less than patient fiddling.

Only two things have gotten thru my Marathon XRs (think somewhere between M+s and regular Ms in toughness). A 4 inch nail and a chisel shaped piece of flint. In both cases you wonder how they hell they are angled right. The nail I only noticed cos stuck in the tyre it kept tapping the frame. Rode thru glass without punctures so often I don't tend to give it much heed. The other 3 or 4 puctures I've had have been the rims gradually wearing thru the inners.

I started using the Thorn p*nct*re resistant inner tubes soon after the Olympic Stadium started being built,roughly 2006.Thinking it would be years till I would have another puncture...It was a nail picked up opposite the Olympic Stadium entrance also,next day that burst my bubble.
Saying that about unscrewing the "nail" I had to pull it out with my teeth as I had no other way I seem to remember.
The inner tubes have been very good since though.(touchwood)
