.... is the number of patches I now have on my front inner tube. :hello:

eeek, didn't think it was that many.

Oh and a tip: If you are going on a lunchtime offroad cycle, take the puncture repair kit.

Had to walk back for 45 mins, legs ache, not that that is a problem in itself but I hade walking on SPDs as it wears the cleats out.:rofl:

Reckon you have had your money's worth out of that one! Is there space for any more patches? or are you going to invest?

pump is attached to bike - antoeter tip - use a velcro strip to prevent pump from jumping out of holder, no need to ask how I found that out.

once I start to put patches over patches or the valve tears out, that is when it is time to think about replacement. dunno how old the tube is.

Tip - if going for a cycle ride, take spare inner tube, preferrably two. In case of puncture, no need to faff about mending the puncture, just change the inner tube. Much quicker.

Am I alone in never repairing a tube?

I just bung in a spare and crack on, knackered one goes in the bin.

I suppose if I were doing some touring / long distance stuff then a repair kit might make sense in addition to a couple of extra tubes.

I take spare tubes with me, and in case of puncture, just change the inner tube - as I stated above. I do keep the punctured inner & repair it when back at home, when I'm inside, in comfort, out of wind, rain, etc.,

Ah I think I see where I'm going on, by the time I get back indoors, my pie arm is on full-auto...

Depending on time, it can be worth gluing the patch on the old one as well as changing the tube. That way if you get another puncture, you've still got a spare. If you've failed to find the thorn or piece of flint that caused the first flat, that's likely to happen quite soon.

if they are presta, mountain bike or road tyre, then sned them to me.

I usually carry puncture repair kit, pump and spare inner. Whenever possible, I try to repair the puncture so that I always have fall back of spare tube should I puncture again; sometimes it is not possible to repair the tube. It is very rare to have more than one puncture as opposed to getting multiple punctures from same incident - only time I can remember that happening is cycling thorugh a carctus filed in Cyprus - not recommended.

I don't think I've had 14 punctures in my life!
I don't repair them either. Into the bin and 3 for a tenner tubes lasts me a year or two.

+1 - get a puncture about every 6 months or so.... I suppose that is my fate sealed for the commute home tonight as I think it was back in Feb that I had the last one.

I bought a new bike a few months ago and after about one week I got a puncture in the rear tyre. I searched the tyre and could find no stone, steel piece or glass so fitted new tube and carried on. However during the next six days I got a puncture I got six more punctures in that tyre. I then gave in and bought a new tyre and since then have had a couple of flats but each time found the culprit. I still have the original tyre and sometimes look at it again but to date can find no reason why it kept going down, Strange!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
