Hot on the heels of the 'Egypt location' debacle

Fox News is at it again

Trying their hardest to discourage americans from visiting Amsterdam - [snigger].

Like a lot of newspaper and other agencies...'always well-researched, insightful, witty and a sheer pleasure....'

No, just people, saying sh*t about other people from a platform of perceived respectability/responsibility.

You won't have read the comments on the website, then? Right at the top was "Why don't Europeans understand that Fox News is a national embarrassment and a running joke to 9/10 Americans?"

Well, maybe because Europe in general and Britain in particular are stuffed with mean-spirited, arrogant xenophobes.

Anyway CP, shouldn't threads like this be in P & L?

If it is such an embarrassment, then why is it allowed to be broadcast?

Given the direction this could go, P&L might be a better place for it.

I just liked the way the stats were produced to show how much worse america is than the Netherlands.

Glad to hear it. Most Americans I've met have been perfectly reasonably, friendly and polite.

Mind you, I think Fox News may have a point about Amsterdam. I know two people who have been mugged in Amersterdam. I don't know anyone who has been mugged anywhere else. It is very sleazy in places.

That's a rather touching faith in youtube comments!

Anyhow, just off to head into the cesspit otherwise known as Amsterdam.

If it is such an embarrassment, then why is it allowed to be broadcast?

Jeremy Kyle, X Factor, reality shows following people who are only currently famous for being in celebrity gossip magazines?

I'm sure you have your own favourite embarrassing programs you wouldn't show to no-brits to represent us as a nation.

Fox news is always shown as it's the most extreme of the main broadcasters in the USA. Iit wouldn't be as easy for us to be so arrogant if the more moderate broadcasts were shown.

With respect to everyone.. the country with the BBC as its voice, has little room to talk when mocking anyone elses news broadcasts. Though a bit less clumsy, it's so painfully slanted and contrived that you're almost more likely to get reliable news reading The Sun...

Yes, the US has horrible news in general, Fox is bad, CNN is worse, but BBC and Sky certainly aren't very much further up the food chain. Were it not for bloomberg TV or EuroNews, it'd actually be very difficult to get any kind of real news at all.

At one point Bremner, Bird and Fortune had some of the best political new available on terrestrial TV although I'm sure not without bias. I still like channel4 news when I get to see it.
