I'm getting ready to make another frame bag for my Surly Disc Trucker.Any one make them for their bicycle or do you just order what you can find? If all goes well for me in 2022 I want to take a road trip to some place I will take off at my home. Not sure if I will ride back home or rent a car/truck to get back home. These are the bags I made for my Surly Big Dummy I had before I was hit by a lady back in 2015.

I make all sorts of bags with spare bits of cloth as I am a sailmaker.

It is not until you start making not just bikepacking bags, but any bags at all. That you realise why they are so expensive and that they are worth the money. Making light, waterproof, bikepacking bags is another game altogether. They are usually have welded seams, something I cannot do, to their standard. Even when you get reputable companies like Restrap making handlebar bags, which are "Waterproof". So waterproof that you need to punch holes in the bottom to allow the water to escape. You begin to realise that it is quite often worth paying the price to keep your gear dry.

But it is good fun messing about with cloth instead of putting it in the bin.
