Frame rub

Old bloke new to forum so hi all
Some thoughts please
Been riding a hybrid for 20 years now flat deftrap pedals no probs. Recently bought a gravel bike and have found that my mountain bike shoes rub on the frame at various points. I have fitted the deftraps but still marking the frame i have decided not to go clipless for various reasons and in my case don't think they will resolve the issue.
Any thoughts please

Both feet or just one side?
Where on the foot and where on the frame does it touch?

If you can’t / won’t change components, ergonomics or technique: then clear Helicopter protection tape is the answer……👍
