Frame sizes?

Are "vintage / classic" bike frames sized different to "modern" bikes?

I've seen 25" , 26" frame sizes

I am 6 foot tall and only ride a 21" mtb bike and a M/l Roadie (Giant Defy)

Ive looked through all the information i can find and am now copmpletely in the dark.

yes they are and as a rough guide i would suggest a 23" upwards sized frame for 6ft but try first

A good guide is to stand over the top tube and have a gap between your crutch and the frame of about 1'' or 25mm.

At 5' 11", I can comfortably ride a 25" Viscount Aerospace, although it's on it's limits for me.

If you look at the real vintage stuff from around WW I, you will find 27" or 28" frames were common and people were shorter then.

Don,t know but there seems a lot of 22.5 and 25in Carlton racing bikes about at the moment in our neck of the woods which is rare I,v just snapped up two more of the 22.5 ones I,m 5ft 11ins in old money.

Looking at old photos of cycling it seemed fashionable to have the saddle right on the top tube. Looks most unbalanced.
