I bought a NOS 2006 Claud Butler Strada frameset off eBay before Christmas. I've finally got round to moving all the parts off my 2005 Claud Butler Vicenza onto it...

This was my Vicenza (half aluminium half carbon frame).

Off came the wheels, bars, chain and fork.

Followed by the seat post, saddle, both mechs and the crankset.

These were all the bits I removed.

I gave the old frame a quick wash.

The new frame goes in the stand and I add fork, bars and seatpost.

To save me cutting the steerer on the new fork, I used the fork from my Vicenza, as they are identical. The headset stack height is 20mm bigger on the Strada.

I put the wheels on and check the clearence. I have 700x23c tyres. It's pretty close, but acceptable.

I've picked up a few new parts for this build, one of them being a new brakeset.

This is where I'm up to at this point.

I replace the gear inner cables and route them on the bike. I'd noticed that they had rubbed quite a bike on the Vicenza, so use a few frame protectors on the Strada.

This next pic shows where I got to by lunchtime on day one. I had to wait for the bar tape, BB, crankset and front mech to turn up by post before I could do any more.

New Chorus BB, barely used but bargain priced Record crankset (£32!) and Veloce front mech (£4!).

Finished the bike this morning and went out for a quick 20k ride, enough to stretch the gear cables. After adjustment, the gear train is almost silent. ;)
