just a quick note to thank everyone who provided me with some really useful advice.
All booked up. In the end i didn't use any chains but used the booking facility on Trip Adviser to book family rooms in hotels just north of Reims on the first night which will mean about 3 hours of driving off the ferry which should get us in the hotel to give kids their tea. Then stopping over in Lyon on the second night.
not sorted coming back yet, but we've only got a day and a half to get to Calais, so that will probably mean stopping around Troyes i guess to break the back on the first day.
