I do like Gillian Welch. Now listening to "The Weight" with the Old Crow Medicine Show.

Will Oldham & Tortoise - "Pancho" (can't find one without either a hugely disturbing video, or irritating overdubbing, sadly).

Townes Van Zandt - "Dead Flowers"

"...Van Zandt's music: intimate, personal, and palpable; there is no hiding the sorrow that exudes from these songs. These are sad songs, folks, and Van Zandt doesn't dress them up as anything else. ... Even though most of his music is sad, it is not sentimental. You get the sense that, like Hank Williams before him, Van Zandt means what he sings..."

That Gillian Welch album is really good - need to give it another few listens.

My favourite John Prine song ("I Guess they Oughta Name a Drink After You") isn't on Youtube, sadly.

Well done Noodley, the plan worked, they've all been flushed out

The fact that I've bookmarked some of them is purely for research.
