I agree - "3 Feet High and Rising" I remember buying and being blown away. I thought these guys had an incredible talent and intelligence.

The 2nd album was OK

Then they kind of disappeared. West Coast Gansta Rap took over, and intelligence in Hip Hop/Rap seemed to disappear into a fog of violence and misogyny.

The best song they ever wrote was on their 2nd album though

I've never heard of her but I feel I should have

Since having my two nieces she sings mostly solo. Her best known work was being the vocalist on the Car Boot Soul album for Nightmares on Wax. She used to be quite well known on the London underground jazz scene in the 90's.

I'm not totally sure what cool jazz is. This Herbie Hancock track, Head Hunters ain't bad though.
