I believe that was “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice” by Dukas. Both excellent pieces of music

Even a whole program about classical soundtracks for computer games
Yeah. Radio 3 did that a few years ago. And there's someone on YouTube who posts computer game music played on the organ.

Brilliant young organist, brilliant arrangement.

And here's the whole of the Saint Saens organ symphony, arranged for organ solo and played by Jonathan Scott.

The trouble with this topic is there's so much good stuff, from 700+ years of music. And what's popular is hackneyed and what's good isn't necessarily popular.

A few decent things that aren't what they seem. The Miserere that's not really by Allegri.

"Albinoni's adagio" that's nothing to do with Albinoni and a very good piece of craftsmanship by Giazotto.

And the Bach D minor toccata and fugue for organ that's probably neither by Bach nor originally for organ.

Actually I prefer the other Bach toccata and fugue in D minor

'speshly the cannons!

When I was at secondary school (11 - 14) my form room was the Music room behind the stage of the Main Hall, this had access to the fully equipped 'stage' with lighting rig and full PA system, the music teacher decided to have music playing at the start of Assembly* and knowing I knew how to work record players chose me for the task** All I had to do was put a record on and wait for the Headmaster to appear at the back of the Hall and gently bring the faders down as he walked to the stage, that was always a favourite of mine along with this,

* mainly to drown out the racket of @800 kids chattering and fidgeting

** It also got me out of the tedium of Assembly
