When 99 Luftballoons is translated it makes a whole lot more sense than the English version, as in describing how we were very close to being annihilated several times due to a misunderstanding or false alarms, iirc the idea of the song came from a Rolling Stones concert in Berlin where they released a load of balloons, which were mistaken for UFO’s
