I'm quite a fan of Duran Duran today, but in 1985 I was a bit angrier. Simon Le Bon owned a 78 foot ocean racer, Drum, that was practicing for the 1985 Fastnet off-shore race in the Solent. I was bimbling along in a twenty-six foot yacht and caught it on starboard tack. Normally I give way to bigger boats because it's quite a lot of hassle for them to tack, even though I had right of way. However, I noticed that Simon was wearing an immaculate white suit in the cockpit.....and held my course.

Wee bit OT.... That yacht now belongs to Arnold Clark (major car dealer in Scotland) and is regularly seen on the Clyde. Mainly used for corporate sweeteners securing sales rather than pleasure cruising.
