Not mine but dad's. Barring music at the camp youthclub, I didn't buy any music until I was 16 so dad's music was pretty much all I heard. Dave Brubeck and he liked Irish shanties and the like.
Annoyingly, early 1970s in the youth club the bigger lads played a rock track, possibly from the late 60s which I adored, but have never found again, no idea what it was called, who it was...it was just a track that got played a lot...plus quite a bit of Sabbath, Deep Purple etc, that influenced my music choice to this day.

Stiff Little Fingers Alternative Ulster, the whole of this album, Inflammable Material was played all the way to our destination on the School trip to France, and back again, also memorable because when we arrived in Calais for the ferry home, the coach driver was asked to put Radio 1 on while waiting to board the Ferry, when the news came on it was announced that Argentina had invaded The Falkland Islands, the main comment was, why the fark has Argentina invaded Scotland, & one bright spark who wanted taking back to the hotel, as most of us were 16 & ready to leave, so "We'll all get put in the army"!! Easter '82, totally unforgettable !

Same - 1966, 14 years old and listening to West Coast type stuff and discussing music with Taff Green who was in the year above me. "You need to listen to Bob Dylan and Jimi Hendrix" were his wise words so I did. Before streaming I had 70+ Dylan CDs in my collection.

So here's a track from the other guy...

My 5 year older brothers music preferences again exposed me to music that was really before my time. A lot of Hendrix was played in his bedroom.

1 Contender for that song could be Python Lee Jackson- In A Broken Dream................very rare and never really 'released' as such. A few pubs had it on old jukeboxes in the 70's and some disco owners had a copy but not many, I'd post a linky but can't on this crap 'chromebook' thingy but try and give it a listen
