From that brief period when country music threatened to become something better than the clichéd blandness that it is these days, a unashamedly lush and romantic number - Glen Campbell, Wichita Lineman (Jimmy Webb):


Sinatra done by Billie Holiday, at her lowest ebb - I'm a Fool to Want You (from Lady in Satin). Just hearing her voice like this near the end of her terribly short life breaks your heart. It's almost unlistenable, but also the most perfect and beautiful expression of human suffering.
