3 The most interesting rides in 2010 award: Flying Dodo. Thanks Adam, for a ride around the M25 (fantastic 148.5 miles? + an empty HS1, twice) - recommended and something to do in 2011) a ride back from Loughborough (in spite of the Stevenage Snails ) - a magnificent night ride to Dunwich, and a visit to the White Jeans Museum in East Wittering. (Where the UK pasta twirl stock was having its AGM). Not to mention an insight into Dengue Sound Mirrors via User10571, Derek Jarman's place, the PLUTO bungalows and all the interesting stuff...
4 Best Booze Up en route: The Hon. Greg Collins, sommelier-in-chief atop Ditchling Beacon (wow - that was a heavy day )
5 Felon of the Year Award. 'Fingers Frank', that slippery cove who had a hand in the redistribution of champagne glasses, and, more notably, was involved in 'The Incident of the Buff'.

6 Best Refreshment Taker: Dead Heat between Rich and Claudine - they are inseperable. There's many a slip 'twixt cup and lip - which is why they stuck to glasses.
7 Nice person award: Antonia Shepherd. Receiving personally, and on behalf of all the nice natured helpers who made and distributed cakes and drinks this year. It has nothing whatsoever to do with the case of Prosecco that led to me missing breakfast and descending gently into 'huh?' land...

8 Three newcomers 2010: Martin235, Becs, CharlieB. Plenty of others of course - I just picked the first three names to drip into my conciousness. Add yourself to a list if you did a night ride, and are still lurking here with intent to cause trouble...
9 Best Eaterie: Greg de la Madeira (pictured), The Waterfront Posse, Kieran at Andys Café, The Cabin - all good.

10 Clunker of the Year Award:

11 Best 'Gateaux de la Nuit'. crinklylion, CharlieB and Olaf (although Olaf might have got an 'assist' there).
12 Most Over dressed Night Rider: Now, some of you may think that Mista 'Arctic' Preston would sweep all before him with this one...but the winner is.................Nigel/tigerbiten. Never nibbled by a mosquito...but...

I'm sure there are thousands of nominations and categories not mentioned. Go to it, you devotees of the spoke word.

Hello - and Happy New Year (have been away on the west coast of Ireland) Thank you for the nomination - am very chuffed! Big thanks to TC1, Arallsopp, Dellzeqq, Flying Dodo, Aperitif, Becs, Ian Rauk, Auntie Helen and all the Sunday London Riders for the enthusiasm, encouragement, support, supervision and of course entertainment in making cycling such fun regardless of individual ability. The shared passion for pedal power regardless of vitesse and finesse generated by everyone on this forum just makes me want to pedal further. Father Christmas gave me a book "100 Cycle Rides up Hills" and I have already done one of them - Swains Lane. Only 99 to go - Ditchling Beacon is one of them... Anyway I hope 2011 is full of happy cycling times for you all. M

Wheee! I gotta nomination two nominations, too! Thank you, Teef!

Gonna think about matching the cake variety to the destination this year.

Desperate to get some more distance stuff in with better and more entertaining company. This cold grey commuting under newly dimmed street lights is doin' me head in.

This year's mad cap ideas so far run to :-

Another round M25 ride
Dun Run III - the prequel
Independence Day ride (educational tour of London)
The LL ride - Leicester to London which would be 100 miles which is 2 x L in Roman numerals (clever eh)
A tour of Sheppey
Some other Kentish rides

They all sound good, definitely fancy the first three. In preparation for LeJOG, the more big rides I can fit in before the end of May, the better. There's a Wiggle series sportive this year which runs from Brockenhurst (New Forest) down to Lymington, ferry over to the IOW, lap of the island and back. That lead me to my suggestion: HPC down to Pompey (72 miles or so), lap of IOW (just under 70). And how about a run along the coast- Brighton to Bournemouth (or vice versa)?
