Once you've signed up there'll probably be something about compulsory helmets too.....
Compulsory now: http://www.moonriders.co.uk/faq.php#24

fourth post in a row...........

We've got a couple of Moonriders signed up for the Bognor ride - they didn't know about the FNRttC when they parted with the dosh. Now, it could be that if they like the Bognor ride then they'll let their fellow Moonriders know that you can take part in a monthly night ride that doesn't start somewhere daft and for a tad less than eightynine quid.

Night-rides seem to be catching-on as the next big thing in charity rides. When will we see the first night-time Sportive?

there's always been plenty of Audax rides at night. Sportives are basically a commercial thing, and, looking at what people are prepared to pay (somebody filched our Hilly 50 route and charged £40 for it) I'm sure it's only a matter of time.

I hadn't seen that page before - the 'service' seems to be less complete than the Martlets ride. And, as Martin says, helmets are compulsory, but that is down to the insurers. I've had enough of the Martlets insurers dicking about, by the way, and I'm going to see if I can arrange my own insurance for 2012.

OK dellzeqq, it's time to up the Ante if you're to stay ahead of the curve on this one and keep FNRttC and Cheam & Morden CTC in it's prime slot as cycling innovators, we've had some focus groups, ran ideas up flag-poles and we've a sure-fire success. I even called Ben Page from Mori for an opinion, but his Mum moved house 30 years ago .... bugger. We don't think it's ever been done and we're certain there's a gap in the market. It's called:

FNNRttC :becool:
Friday Night Naked Ride to the Coast.

Wiggle already do - they are running the Huntington one I did in March at night later this year. Evans Ride it has night rides too . . . . . I'm sure none of them are a patch on Simon's rides though!

I think it's all good. I'm conscious of some people thinking that the regular monthly rides have become too big, and also that people like the once-in-a-year blow out that is the Martlets - but 2013 will bring a whole different type of FNRttC. If others pick up on it, then I'm happy.

The one thing I do cling to is the club structure, and the (nigh-on) free entry. When it was a Cheam and Morden ride it was free, and now it's a Fridays ride it's a quid a year (and it's going to go up next year, I'm afraid, to two quid a year). If I can run 18 or 19 night rides in 2012 on that kind of sub, then I reckon that I'll have done a decent job.
