Happy to report that down in Deptford - about 7 miles into your journey - though the roads are pretty sodden there's only the lightest of rain actually coming down. Virtually no wind and surprisingly mild.

Look on the bright side, the Beeb's forecasting that it won't get colder then 10C.

Good luck all. Keep smiling, rain bounces off happy people.

At the risk of breaking Adrian's rules, User482 just informed me that he is bringing the deluge with him.
I brought it as far as Reading, but it seems the rain wanted to go no further.

Home again after bailing at plumstead post puncture (thanks again for the help with that guys, awesome efficiency) and post onset of feeling really gritty. Which is annoying as my legs feel really good right now, soloing home was a long blast.

Managed to pour 225 ml (yes I measured it) out of my sealskins, my feet may regain their feeling by the end of today sometime.....

Massive massive chapeau to anyone who makes it all the way, those conditions were gruelling.

I've just had to get up to let the dog out, and traditionally it's around this time that the ride has passed through my bit of the Medway towns.

Having whimpered to be let out, once I'd opened the back door he just stood there, peering into the deluge. I finally persuaded him - well, threw him, actually - into the garden and in the time it took him to empty his bladder and race back indoors he was soaked.

Anybody spending the whole night cycling through this is a bloody hero, or certifiably insane.

Possibly both.

Oooh! Looking forward to the write ups for this one. Hope you all made it. If it helps, I've just woken up and can confirm it's not raining.
