No just a 'page a day' one for 2012... people were genuinely horrified! Wierd.

Superstitious nonsense...I cant believe people of this day and age still believe that something bad will happen just because its Friday and its the 13th day of the month.

I mean this harkens back to the days of trying to drown a woman who was thought to be a witch...if she drowns and dies, then clearly she wasnt a witch.

Obviously *most* people these days will tell you that there's no such thing as witches....yet my auntie in law will very nearly have a heart attack if you put shoes on the furniture, and my wife always tosses salt over her shoulder if she spills any

so does my wife, but thats not superstition just not wanting to put dirty footwear on clean furniture.

on the ocassion I'm thinking of, she'd just seen me take the new shoes out of a shoebox that had just come out of a delivery package...so this was most certainly not to do with cleanliness

My wife complains about that one ... specifically new shoes, though.

Not sure what it's all about but personally I'm not superstitious at all.

... and yet we still have a Rowen tree to the left of the gate. We asked a local lumberjack to take it down as it is not in the best of health, but he refused.
My mother used to take us to see the Rowan every Halloween, explaining how important it was

Well I bought Croce D'Aune front & rear derailleurs and chainset (c/w self-extracting bolts) for just under £100: that doesn't sound unlucky to me, but then I'm not a Christian.

Yes the new shoes thing on furniture was a definite no-no in our house when i was a kid, My dad was funny about that.
I tell my own kids not to do it...I'm turning into my dad.
